A Warm Summer Day

Wyatt, Jack and Jeb enjoy another warm summer day. We brought the sprinkler out and Jack was the only one interested in the water. Jeb and Wyatt cried and then stayed far away. Better luck next time.

News from the Juelfs

Well, it is definitely time to update the blog. We are long overdue and for that apologize that we have neglected to share our family with you. David is finishing up his first year at Covenant this week. He has really enjoyed all that he is learning and all in all our experience has been great here in St. Louis. For me, updating the blog has taken a back seat to the seat I am more often seen leaning over on a daily basis thanks to the joys of morning sickness. You heard correctly, the Juelfs family will once again be expanding and for that we have much to give thanks. Baby Juelfs is growing strong in the womb thanks to the warm greetings from Wyatt saying "baby" while patting Mom's tummy. We would appreciate all your prayers during this pregnancy and look forward to sharing our newest addition with you in November.

For the summer, we have some exciting opportunities before us. David will be doing an internship in San Diego, CA, at Harbor Presbyterian Church for six weeks. He will be spending a week with each of their pastors and a week of work focusing on mercy ministries. He is thrilled to have the chance to learn under the leadership at Harbor and of course is quite pleased at the prospect of waking up miles from the ocean for a few weeks this summer. Wyatt and I will be spending about three weeks in California during the course of the internship. We look forward to our stay in California and some great times with our extended family too.

We certainly apologize for our lack of correspondance via the blog and vow to make more frequent postings soon! Thanks for your continued love and support. We have really appreciated it!

Easter Sunday

Grandma and Grandpa from Ohio came to visit. We had a great time. Wyatt wore his first tie on Easter Sunday, but his dress outfit was quickly replaced with a more casual attire when he pooped through his pants at church. We hope you all had a blessed day celebrating the death and resurrection of our Lord and the new life we have in Him. Hope all is well. We miss you. Pictures will be posted soon...we are having technical difficulties at this time. Sorry!

Love Stinks...or Something Like That!

Today is Valentine's Day and Wyatt was finally able to wear his Valentine's sweater that Grandma from California bought him. For a kid this cute, love shouldn't be so difficult. Well, what are ya going to do when you are just 18 months old?

Sierra's New Bed

Well, it happenned. After sleeping on the same small rectangular pet bed for four years, Sierra was finally given a new bed. We opted for optimal room for future growth (that is horizontal growth)! Anyway, this bed is big enough for two which is certainly what is needed now. Her old bed has retired to the basement for late night studying with Dad.

Spring is Here

Well, sort of! We are just starting the Spring Semester this week and along with our ever recurring spring weather we have simply forgot it is still winter! David is in his second semester here at Covenant and thinks his classes just keep getting better. Wyatt and I are really enjoying the spring weather which allows for a lot of playtime with the neighbors. What could be better than being outside in the middle of January.

This semester will be full of work, study, playing, and all of the other joys of being a family with many roles (Dad, Mom, student, employee, etc.) We look forward to the ups and downs and hope God draws us near during the process.

Wyatt continues growing daily. He is busy learning to be a big boy. He is trying so very diligently to master the English language and while we only understand a small amount of what he says, you certainly can tell that he has many things on his mind and intends that we hear them all! (He must be his father's son!) Last week, he began reaching for our hands to pray with us at the dinner table. He enjoys it so much that he would really like to just pray through the entire dinner time. So now David and I have resorted to trading seats every other night so that each night we alternate who is able to have our right hand free to eat during the meal. This past Sunday at church during the benediction, Wyatt had another light bulb moment (and daddy had a tearful moment as a result). We had our hands outstretched as the pastor prayed the benediction and all of sudden Wyatt stretched out his hands too! It was so precious. These are just a few of the sweet little things we have been able to experience recently with him.

Our Most Recent News

Over the Thanksgiving Holiday, Heather had a miscarriage and we lost our baby. The doctors told her on Monday, November 21st, that she would likely miscarry as the baby's growth did not match a normal pregnancy for eleven weeks. On Friday, November 25th, Heather ended up in the hospital as a result of an incomplete miscarriage which led to a severe loss in blood. She is doing alright now as she has had several weeks to regain her strength. We are so grateful that for the past two weeks we had family in town to care for Wyatt during this difficult time. We are very saddened our loss. It is in this sadness and pain that we have once again been reminded that we are not our own, but in body and soul, we belong to our Heavenly Father, the author and giver of life. And so we stand assured, and we hope this serves as a reminder to you, that our God is the true comforter to those who mourn. “ I, I am he who comforts you, who are you that you are afraid of man who dies.” Isaiah 51:12 We have every reason to be hopeful for more children in the future, but please remember us in your prayers as we struggle with the loss of this child.

Finals!

Christmas is approaching, and Wyatt is full of exploration into the season traditions...namely the Christmas tree! My school responsibilities take my focus elsewhere. As the semester comes to an end, I am a little overwhelmed with finals. Then end is in sight however! Please be praying for me to balance all that is required of me in the next two weeks. As a family we have personally had such an overwhelming time leading up to finals that at times it is very difficult to focus. I trust that God will see me through the completion of each class this semester. My first semester has been a wonderful experience at Covenant. ~David

Wyatt...the big brother!

Well, our family will be growing shortly. Heather is almost 10 weeks pregnant. Our newest addition to the Juelfs family will be arriving in early June. Keep their health in your prayers please!

Curious George Comes to Town

For Halloween, Wyatt dressed up as a monkey! We went next door to our neighbor's house for a Halloween Party with all of the neighborhood kids. We had a lot of fun!

Welcome!

Welcome to our world of words! Since we will be unable to see most of you who will view our blog, you will have to put up with wordy chronicles and an occasional picture detailing the past, present, and future of the Juelfs' Family.

And so we begin...We settled into St. Louis about mid August. David, Sierra (our dog), and I moved in on Monday, August 15th, leaving little Wyatt with his Grandma from Ohio. We had three days to set up camp without the pitter patter of our son's hands and feet...well it would be more like the clank and clamor of Wyatt dumping our belongings all over the floors. We greatly appreciated this time. When Wyatt arrived on Thursday that week, we were all unpacked and completely ready for him and for us to be a family unit of three again (okay Sierra, a family unit of four)! Since David spent most of the summer in Virginia, it was and still is so refreshing to wake up next to him each morning with the dog at the foot of our bed and our little boy saying, "Dada, Dada!"

David has now been in class for two weeks and is loving it. It certainly is not without its own challenges, but he feels so blessed to be at Covenant and finally pursuing his Seminary Degree. This is truly a long awaited journey for all of us!
